Directions to Charlottesville and Weekend Events
Directions into Charlottesville From U.S. Route 29 You will follow 29 into Charlottesville if you are coming from either Washington D.C., or from the Charlottesville airport. Follow 29 (also known as Emmet street) into Charlottesville, proceed south until the light at University Avenue. There will be a Best Western on your right, and tennis courts ahead on your left. Take a left onto University Avenue and follow through one light (Rugby Road). The Rotunda is just past this on your right and St. Paul's Memorial is on your left. Follow University Avenue to either the Red Roof Inn, the Courtyard by Marriott, or the Hampton Inn. From I-64 or 29 from the South You will follow I-64 if you are coming to Charlottesville from Richmond and Rt. 29 if you are coming from Chapel Hill (NC) via Lynchburg.
* From I-64, follow signs to the UVA Information Center, exiting from I-84 onto Rt. 29/250 Bypass.
* From Rt. 29/250 Bypass exit onto Ivy Road. Turn right off the exit ramp onto Ivy Road. After your turn, proceed through four traffic lights (the last one is at the intersection with Rugby Road). The Rotunda is just past this on your right. Directions for the Weekend Events Dessert Reception The Dessert Reception will be at the Colonnade Club, 7:00pm on Friday, June 29th. You should plan to park at the Madison Hall parking lot on University Avenue. This parking lot is directly across from the Rotunda (a large, Pantheon-type building). Walk across University Avenue towards the Rotunda and then proceed down the right (West) side of the Lawn. The Colonnade Club is in a Pavilion about 1/2 way down the Lawn. We will hang balloons by the front door to help you locate it. Wedding Ceremony The Wedding Ceremony will be at St. Paul's Memorial Church at 5:00pm on Saturday, June 30th (1700 University Avenue). The church is also on University Avenue diagonally across from the Rotunda. You should plan to park in the same parking lot as the night before, the Madison Hall parking lot. The church is just a block east of the parking lot. It's huge; you can't miss it! Wedding Reception The Wedding Reception will be at Alumni Hall (South Emmet Street), 6:00ish on Saturday, June 30th (immediately following the ceremony). Following the ceremony we will proceed to Alumni Hall for dinner and dancing. While it's not on University Avenue, it is only about a mile from the church. Follow University Avenue West for approximately 1/2 mile and take a left on Emmet. You will see Alumni Hall on your right; it is a large white building with pillars. There is plenty of parking at Alumni Hall. |
